Visitor record — extend your stay in Canada - Apply before expiry
Already in Canada and need more time? A Visitor Record extends your authorized stay so you can remain in Canada legally while you travel, visit family, recover, or await an upcoming life event. If you apply before your current status expires, you are protected by "implied status" — meaning you may remain in Canada while IRCC processes your extension request, even if your original authorization date passes. Your RCIC will review your current status and travel history, determine whether a Visitor Record extension is the right option for your situation, prepare your complete IRCC application with a strong cover letter explaining your reasons for extending, and submit it on your behalf. We will also advise you on any conditions attached to your visitor status and flag any potential complications — such as prior refusals, overstays, or upcoming study or work transitions — that could affect your application. Do not wait until your status has expired. Contact us as soon as you know you need more time in Canada.
